Matthew 25 Releases Pro-Obama TV Ad

Friends, this is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network.

Tomorrow will mark a turning point of the faith and politics dialogue in America as Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain come together to discuss faith at Saddleback Church.  The Republican Party has nominated a man who has failed to ignite the GOP's traditional Christian voting bloc.  While, the Democrats have nominated Sen. Barack Obama who is unabashed in speaking about faith, and who is igniting the imaginations of Christians nation-wide.

The forum will also be the first time clergy have appeared in a commercial to speak out in support of a Democratic Presidential Candidate.  Clergy are tasked with counseling families through health-care crisis and job-losses, with helping congregants inject a moral-mindset in world-affairs, comforting families of those lost at war, and continuously being the voice of `the least of these' to those who often have the most.  Thousands of Pastors, Priest, Sisters, and Brothers who have stood on the sidelines in the past are speaking out this year for one candidate - Barack Obama.

Time Magazine Calls Out McCain Anti-Christ Ad

ime Magazine Calls Out McCain Ad- Worse than Willie Horton

Three days ago I posted a diary breaking down McCain's "The One" ad (I posted the ad at the bottom of this diary) - pointing out the multitude of similarities to the end-times Left Behind novels.  To many, not coming from an evangelical background or context, this probably came across as a conspiracy theory.  However, today Amy Sullivan of Time Magazine confirmed our worst fears.

The John McCain Campaign has reached a new low in presidential politics.  The McCain campaign is working to feed on people's fears and internet rumors that Sen. Obama just might be the Anti-Christ.  We have seen the Republicans swift-boat, conjure up affairs, and enact false investigations.  But, we have never seen anything this low.

McCain's "One" Response - M25 Network

Friends,

This is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network.  By now you have probably seen the McCain campaign's "The One" Ad.  I wanted to provide somewhat of a "special comment" on this ad.  Because, I think many who don't come from an evangelical context may miss the point.  At the bottom of the page there is a link for our petition to call upon Sen. McCain to renounce these ads, but first I want to walk through why they are so troubling.

The McCain campaign is claiming that it is "humorous," "a joke," and "a little fun."  Well here is the ad...and below the fold we'll tell you why this is anything but a joking matter -

Introducing PutAwayFalsehood.com

Just a few days ago a Daily Kos Diarist Dayton Ohio for Obama wrote a diary entitled my sister-in-law just sent me this... concerning a recent email from Kenyan Missionaries claiming Sen. Obama is a Muslim.  Dayton concluded the post by writing, I would love to hand her a substantiated response to shut this filth down, and at the same time email it to everybody on her distribution list..  Please help!!  We have seen a lot of similar concern about these emails on Mydd as Well.

Today the Matthew 25 Network is announcing a new response effort to these viral emails about Sen. Obama. Many of these emails have their origins from folks with faith-based concerns, so we believe it to be our task to set the record straight within our own communities.

Matthew 25 Network Launches New Website

Friends... Exciting News! The Matthew 25 Network, Christians organizing on behalf of Sen. Obama, has just launched a new website.  As Issues of climate change, the world AIDS pandemic, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and poverty both at home and abroad, has risen to be voting issues for many Christians we have seen these folks become a major swing bloc this year.  And Barack Obama, a devoted Christian who is comfortable talking about his faith, has opened the doors for us to reach out to Christians like never before. So were are pushing back with a call for a better Christian witness in our politics!

The Matthew 25 Network is inspired by this Biblical passage:

Dobson At It Again - From Matt 25

Friends this if Grant, again, from Matthew 25.  As you may remember, two weeks ago James Dobson spent 19 minutes of his radio broadcast attacking Senator Obama. You all responded by raising more than $4,000 in 24 hours to help us place ads back-to-back with a positive response using Senator Obama's own words. You can hear our ad that we ran last week: "From His Heart"

If you have ever doubted whether a small group of people can make an impact, just look at the response you evoked from Dobson!  And now, with your help, we are going to double that ad buy!

On Dobson from the Matthew 25 Network.

Hey everyone, It is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network.  I'm a little surprised that is has not been diaried on MyDD.  But, Today we saw our first hard attack against Sen. Obama on Christian Radio by James Dobson.

you can listen to it here - http://www.focusonthefamily.com/

Instead of just reporting on what Dobson said.  And offering a response.  I wanted to share how you can help reach voters, like Dobson's listeners, so in the future they also receive a positive message about Sen. Obama.

From the "Matthew 25 Network" Christians for Obama

Hello, I'm Grant, I am working with the Matthew 25 Network as diaried earlier by Deoliver47.  Matthew 25 will be reaching out to diverse Christian communities with a positive message for our endorsed candidate- Senator Barack Obama.

Let me share a bit about myself and what we are trying to do.  I am a seminary student and spend a lot, perhaps the bulk, of my time working with evangelicals in modern America.  My commitment is to do what I can to take back the Gospel values that have been hijacked by the Christian Right.  We believe that religious values can inform political values, and that does not have to mean voting for Republicans!

The Matthew 25 Network will be the first PAC that organizes within the Christian community to lift up a voice for candidates who share values of concern for the poor, peace and justice at home and abroad, and promoting the common good.  We will be reaching out to undecided Christian voters to share about why we are supporting Barack Obama.

We are engaging a field of voters that progressives had ignored for far too long.
